1982: Steve Carlton of the Philadelphia Phillies becomes the first pitcher to win four Cy Young awards. Carlton (seen here throwing out the first pitch before Game 3 of the 2008 World Series) would eventually be matched by Greg Maddux when he won his fourth Cy Young in 1994 and later exceeded by Randy Johnson (five) and Roger Clemens (seven).
