1972: Hockey goalie Martin Brodeur, who won three Stanley Cup championships in a 21-season career with the New Jersey Devils, is born in Montreal, Canada. He has also won two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada in the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympic Games and is the NHL's all-time leader in regular season wins, losses, shutouts and games played. He retired in the middle of the 2014–15 season after a brief stint with the St. Louis Blues, having played in seven games with the team.
