2011: The comedy "Bridesmaids," starring Kristen Wiig as woman who suffers a series of misfortunes after being asked to serve as maid of honor for her best friend, premieres in theaters. The film became a hit, grossing more than $288 million worldwide. The movie, which was also co-written by Wiig, would go on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy and Best Original Screenplay.
