1961: Actor Gary Cooper, best known for movies such as "High Noon," "City Streets," "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town," "The Pride of the Yankees" and "Sergeant York," dies of prostate cancer at the age of 60 in Los Angeles, Calif. Cooper received five Academy Award nominations for Best Actor, winning for "High Noon" and "Sergeant York."
