A major Civil War battle ends, America gains a new state, Jim Morrison overdoses, and summer blockbusters dominate theaters, all on this day.
1991: "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong, and directed by James Cameron, opens in theaters.
