1913: Hall of Fame baseball player Johnny Mize, a 10-time All-Star who won five World Series titles in a row with the New York Yankees, is born in Demorest, Ga. Mize also played for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants in his 15-year career. He died at age 80 on June 2, 1993.
