2008: Georgia Frontiere, the majority owner and chairman of the NFL's St. Louis Rams and the most prominent female owner in a league historically dominated by men, dies of breast cancer at the age of 80 in Los Angeles, Calif. Frontiere had inherited a 70 percent ownership stake in the then Los Angeles Rams upon her husband's death in 1979. During her three decades in control of the team, she relocated it to her hometown of St. Louis in 1995 and saw the Rams win a Super Bowl title in 2000.
