1939: Actor Sal Mineo, best known for movies such as "Rebel Without a Cause," "Giant" and "Exodus," is born in The Bronx, N.Y. Mineo, an Oscar nominee for "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Exodus," was stabbed to death in an alley behind his apartment building in West Hollywood, Calif., at the age of 37 on Feb. 12, 1976.
