1968: Hall of Fame baseball player Roberto Alomar, regarded by many as one of the best second basemen in MLB history, is born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. During a 17-season career that saw him win two World Series titles with the Toronto Blue Jays, the 12-time All-Star won more Gold Gloves (10) than any other second baseman in history, and also won the second-most Silver Slugger Awards (four) for a second baseman.
