Pro Basketball Hall of Fame

1972: Bob Douglas, the founder, owner and coach of the New York Renaissance basketball team from 1923 to 1949, becomes the first black man elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. Douglas guided the barnstorming all-black professional basketball team to a 2,318-381 record.
