1971: Singer-songwriter Dido, best known for the songs "Thank You" and "White Flag," is born Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong in London, England. She became known to American audiences in 2001 when Eminem sampled the first verse of "Thank You" in his hit rap song "Stan."
