1930: Dancer and choreographer Robert Joffrey, the co-founder of the Joffrey Ballet known for his highly imaginative modern ballets, is born Abdullah Jaffa Bey Khan in Seattle, Wash. He died of AIDS at the age of 57 on March 25, 1988. He's seen here in a still from the 2012 documentary "Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance."
