1914: Actress and singer Dorothy Lamour, best remembered for appearing in the "Road to…" movies, a series of successful comedies starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, is born Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lamour died at her North Hollywood home on Sept. 22, 1996, at the age of 81.
