1896: Actor Raymond Massey, best known for movies such as "Abe Lincoln in Illinois," "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "East of Eden," is born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Massey (seen here with actress Antoinette Bower in 1961), who received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in "Abe Lincoln in Illinois," died from pneumonia at age 86 on July 29, 1983.
