1959: Architect Frank Lloyd Wright, a leader of the Prairie School movement of architecture and the designer of buildings such as Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum, dies at the age of 91 while undergoing surgery in Phoenix, Ariz., to remove an intestinal obstruction. Wright is often considered the greatest American architect of all time.
