Collective History

1969: The "Chicago Eight" plead not guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Ill. The eight eventually became seven when Black Panther Party activist Bobby Seale's case was severed from the rest. On Feb. 18, 1970, all seven defendants (Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis, John Froines, and Lee Weiner) were found not guilty.
