1991: U.S. Sen. John Heinz of Pennsylvania, the son of the heir to the H. J. Heinz Company, is killed with six others when a helicopter collides with their plane over an elementary school in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. His widow, Teresa Heinz, later married U.S. Sen. John Kerry.
