2013: Movie critic Roger Ebert, the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism, dies at the age of 70 in Chicago, Ill., after a recurrence of cancer. Ebert, who had lived with cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands since 2002, was a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 until his death. He, along with Chicago Tribune critic Gene Siskel, helped popularize nationally televised film reviewing when they co-hosted the PBS show "Sneak Previews" from 1975 through 1982, followed by several variously named "At the Movies" programs.
