1938: Rock guitarist Duane Eddy, best known for his string of hit records in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Rebel Rouser," "Peter Gunn" and "Because They're Young," is born in Corning, New York. Eddy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
