1995: Actress and dancer Ginger Rogers, best known as Fred Astaire's romantic interest and dancing partner in a series of Hollywood musicals in the 1930s, including "Top Hat," "Swing Time" and "Shall We Dance," dies of a heart attack at the age of 83 in Rancho Mirage, California. Rogers won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in 1940's "Kitty Foyle" and also appeared in movies such as "Stage Door," "Roxie Hart" and "Monkey Business."
