1981: In Pawtucket, R.I., the minor-league baseball teams Pawtucket Red Sox and Rochester Red Wings begin what would become the longest professional baseball game ever. The game would be suspended in the 32nd inning at 4 a.m. on April 19 and finally completed on June 23, lasting for 33 innings over eight hours and 25 minutes of playing time.
