1967: Dara Torres, a 12-time Olympic medalist and the first and only swimmer from the United States to compete in five Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, 2000 and 2008), is born in Beverly Hills, California. Torres is also the oldest swimmer to ever earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, being 41 when she made the team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
