1957: The drama "12 Angry Men," starring Henry Fonda and directed by Sidney Lumet, premieres in Los Angeles, California. The movie, which was Lumet's first feature film, was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing of Adapted Screenplay, losing all three to "The Bridge on the River Kwai."
