CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) -

Officials say a sewer line break sent wastewater across a Cedar Falls bike trail.

The state Department of Natural Resources says the city estimates between 1,000 to 2,000 gallons of wastewater were released when the force main at the Park Drive lift station broke Tuesday.

The line has been repaired, but officials are not sure how much wastewater may have reached the Cedar River.

Another break Monday in a Park Drive force main discharged an estimated 50,000 gallons of wastewater.

Officials are encouraging people and pets to avoid the trail area from Park Drive to Grand Avenue for two days.
