WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) -

The Great River Shakespeare Festival runs from June 25 to August 3 in Winona.

“Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers in the English language,” said Doug Sholz- Carlson, artistic director for the Great River Shakespeare Festival in Winona. “He writes about humanity in such a compelling way, and he has such an expansive view of humanity that I think we all find ourselves within characters in Shakespeare.”

In this weeks’ Eye Piece, News 8 Chief Photographer Chuck Oedsma brings us a sneak peak of the Festival.

“It is really hard to say that '[Hamlet'] is the play, but it definitely has so much of the human experience wrapped up in five acts,” said Andrew Carlson who plays Hamlet.
