Some neighbors are coming together in La Crosse to improve the place where they live.
More than 50 residents of the Weigent-Hogan neighborhood came together Monday night to take part in the new neighborhood association.
Organizers say the meet and greet at Weigent Park gave every resident a chance to be a part of laying the groundwork for the neighborhood's future. "We will be discussing what we like about our neighborhood, what we might want to change about our neighborhood and based on that feedback we'll be able to hopefully move forward and harness some of this great energy that's in the park," said resident Kathy Sims.
Only about 4% of the city's crime happens in the neighborhood, and nearly 80% of the people are living in their own homes.
It's the sixth neighborhood association in the city, but the first to form in nearly a decade.
