A Lake Tahoe artist is nearly finished with a work-of-art that will soon be displayed in downtown La Crosse.
The city hired John Pugh last year to create a mural to depict La Crosse's culture.
Pugh and five understudies from the area have been in California since October working on the mural.
One of the understudies updated the City Arts Board Monday on their progress.
He says his experience is something he can use well after the mural is done. "Now I have the education to hopefully assist the other interns to create more works of public art in La Crosse, and trying to continue this art style throughout the city," said mural apprentice Robert Mini.
The mural will go on the side of the Pump House downtown and is expected to be unveiled sometime in June.
