A Northeast Wisconsin lawmaker has just introduced a new set of bills to crack down on heroin use.
Rep. John Nygren (R) Marinette was joined by law enforcement from Brown and Marinette counties.
The legislation includes photo ID's to be required when picking up narcotics from a pharmacy, stronger prescription drug drop-off programs and the ability to allow more medical personnel to administer narcan - during a heroin overdose.
"Narcan is a drug that if it was given to somebody that was having an epileptic seizure, and it was missunderstood what was actually happening, it has no effect to that person, no danger to them for administering that drug, but what it can do in a case of an overdose is save a life."
Nygren said more help to deal with heroin issues is also on the way through alternative treatment in surrounding communities.
