LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

International Migratory Bird Day also had beautiful conditions to work with this afternoon.

Myrick Park held its International Migratory Bird Day, an event to teach the community about migratory birds and how to preserve more than 350 species. The free event included a sun-rise bird hike, a live raptor presentation, and bird-themed crafts and games.

The event is sponsored by the EcoPark, USGS, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the city.

“It's a great collaboration,” said Stephanie Hanna, education coordinator for the park. “It gets people outside, and gets people to learn about birds and nature."

More than 500 events across take place across the continent to raise awareness for migratory birds, but International Migratory Bird Day is the largest. This is Myrick Park’s fifth year hosting the event.
