LA CROSSE, WI (WKBT) -

The weather's perfect to take a run down a local ski hill, at least that's what Darcie Breidel, General Manager at Mt. La Crosse says.

For the first time in at least a decade, Mt. La Crosse will open Thanksgiving weekend. "It looks beautiful up there, I mean there's really an amazing amount of snow, we had a couple of nice 24-48 hour runs of snow making, so that really got us ready for tomorrow" says Breidel.

Crews have been out all week making snow and grooming the hill in hopes of the early opening.

The lifts will start going tomorrow morning. Three runs will be ready to go, including one of the longer ones. "Our mile away midway, so it gives you at least a little more terrain to ski and board on, which is nice, because it's hard, everyone wants to get out here, and you like to be able to spread it out a little bit," says Breidel.

Mt. La Crosse plans to start making snow again early next week with hopes of opening more runs shortly after.
