One person is dead one and one person is injured after a motor vehicle crash near Onalaska.

According to a press release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash occurred Friday night around 8:40 p.m.

Officials said a motorcycle carrying a 42-year-old man and 51-year-old woman from Minnesota was traveling westbound on I-90 near the Exit 3 off ramp when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and lost control.

The State Patrol says the motorcycle slid off the roadway towards the ditch, ejecting both occupants.

The 51-year-old woman fatally struck a wooden sign post.

The 42-year-old man sustained unknown injuries but refused transport from the scene.

The crash is still under investigation but officials said the crash may have been caused by excessive speed.
