It was an extra special brunch Sunday in Onalaska as members of the 327th Engineer unit enjoy a meal with their fellow soldiers and families.
The annual family holiday event held at the armory shows appreciation for the commitment soldiers and their families give during the holidays. The meal was prepared and served by the Family Readiness Group. Squad leaders say the meal is a great way for military families to get to know each other during the holidays. "We bring them all together to get to know each other," says Company Commander Captain Devon Post, "and so in a time of deployment, the soldiers family know they're families going through the same thing." Captain Post also says it's a way to make a contact so they can call someone if they are having a hard day, "Here is somebody you can call that is going through the exact same thing and maybe they can help you through it," says Post.
The day also included lots of door prizes, and even a bounce pit for the kids.
