LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Forget something borrowed or something blue. Military brides are finding the perfect wedding gown that's white and free.

It was Operation Wedding Gown at Charlotte's Bridal in La Crosse Wednesday.

As part of Brides Across America, brides who have served or have fiancés who served in parts of the Middle East, Japan, or Korea could get a wedding dress for free.

One of the brides we talked to says it's a nice gesture in a stressful process. "I'm just excited to just finally try on a dress, this is my first time trying on dresses, so I'm excited to just see what it feels like, and to actually feel like a bride," said Vanessa Nordegaard.

Nordegaard is getting married next June. She was just one of several brides looking for their dress.

The co-owner at Charlotte's Bridal says this is the least they can do. "It just tickles you pink, you know, the girls come in and they're so excited, like any bride, girls dream about this dress," said Kathy Walker.

The boutique has given away more than 100 dresses in the six times they have participated in the program.
