Memorial service remembers homeless in La Crosse who've died
Winter nights can be dangerously cold especially when you don't have a place to call home. That's the reason people gathered at a Homeless Memorial outside the Salvation Army in La Crosse.
At the service, names of the six homeless people from our community who died this year were read aloud.
For people who knew them, homeless or not, it was an emotional experience. "Cause there are a lot of people out here, outside that are homeless that don't have places right now that are in need of a place. And I wouldn't want to see them sleeping outside all the time," said April Aguilar who used to be homeless.
The event is happening in unity with about 150 other services nationwide.
