LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Millions of people are hoping for a little holiday luck this week with one of the biggest lottery jackpots in history on the line.

The Mega Millions jackpot has gone up to a staggering $636 million for Tuesday's drawing. The jackpot now trails only a $656 million Mega Millions pot in March 2012.

At the Mileage station in La Crosse, they've already seen an increase in people coming in to buy tickets, and that's only going to increase before the drawing.

The odds of winning are 1 in 259 million, but that's not stopping people from dreaming big. "That's such an outrageous amount of money, everybody's like I don't know what I'd do with it, but it's nice to dream," said Deb Miller.

The cash payout for this jackpot will be $316.5 million.

If nobody wins, the jackpot could approach $1 billion.
