TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) -

Veterans Day is Friday, and the Tomah VA is getting a head start on honoring our veterans.

The VA held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony Thursday, with special recognition for Vietnam War veterans.

The ceremony also included this year's induction in to the Hall of Heroes: Sergeant Major Kenneth Stumpf.

Stumpf served two tours in Vietnam and earned the Medal of Honor, which is our country's highest military honor.

"I've been trying to put this off for a long time," Stumpf said about his induction. "I kept saying, oh, pick somebody else, there's so many great veterans out here, pick somebody else for the wall of honor. Finally, they grabbed a hold of me and said, hey, we want you."

Stumpf is just one of 63 people from Wisconsin ever to receive the Medal of Honor and one of only six who served in Vietnam.
