The names of the three victims in Sunday's triple homicide in Lafayette County were released by law enforcement officials Monday.
The Lafayette County sheriff said Gary Thoreson, 70, his wife Cloe, 66, and his brother Dean, 76, all were found dead at a home on the 9000 block of Philippine Road in rural South Wayne, Wis., Sunday.
Waukesha police have also named the person of interest being held in connection with the triple homicide.
Waukesha police said they were requested by Lafayette County to detain Jaren Kuester in Waukesha in connection with the investigation. He was taken into custody just before 3 p.m. Sunday and turned over to Lafayette County.
In a news release Sunday, Sheriff Scott Pedley of Lafayette County said the coroner's office has not positively identified the three victims at the time, because of the extensive evidence crime lab employees needed to collect at the crime scene.
The Sheriff’s Department said it received a report of a deceased individual found by a family member at about 9:53 a.m. Deputies responding to the call found two other bodies at the residence, the statement said.
Pedley said investigators were seeking a suspect in connection with the case who they thought to be in southeastern Wisconsin. The individual, who the sheriff did not identify, was located, he said.
"The danger to our community, as it relates to the homicide investigation, is now over," Pedley wrote in the statement.
The Sheriff’s Department had been looking for a blue 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck with a blue topper and the WI license plate No. 220489F, which was also found. According to an earlier news release, the pickup truck was registered to one of the victims.
WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee reported that the truck was found in Waukesha. Police surrounded an apartment building on Delafield Street. One person inside the apartment was taken into custody without incident. Police in Waukesha confirmed they were assisting in the Lafayette County investigation.
The State of Wisconsin Crime Lab personnel and state Division of Criminal Investigation were assisting the Sheriff's Department at the scene, the statement said.
