LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - Downtowns across Wisconsin are celebrating the impact they have on their local economies.

That includes La Crosse, where officials celebrated "Wisconsin Main Street Day" at Belle Square.

Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch was among the officials in town for the festivities.

She says many communities across the state are seeing downtown booms like we've seen here.

"There has been more private sector investment, there's been more community support, and there have been more opportunities for people not just to recreate by shopping and having a nice meal, but also just invest in the social culture and the vibrant economy that is born out of a Main Street community," said Kleefisch.

La Crosse was one of 12 communities across the state to be highlighted as part of Wisconsin Main Street Day. Viroqua and Tomah were also part of the tour.
