LA CROSSE, WI (WKBT) -

A face you see at numerous festivals and events in the community is retiring from his day job.

Pat Stephens has worked with the UW-La Crosse Foundation for the past 35 years. He celebrated his last day of work Wednesday with a reception.

You may know Pat best from his work with Rotary Lights, Riverfest or almost any other community event.

He's not leaving those, just like he and his wife chose not to leave La Crosse over the years. "I've had some very nice offers and opportunities to go elsewhere during our career, but we fell in love with the campus, fell in love with the community, and found it to be a great place to raise our children and get involved, so we're La Crosseites now through and through," said Stephens.

He chose Wednesday to retire so he can be more involved with the Rotary Lights set up which is underway.
