Onalaska police ask for public's help locating battery suspect

ONALASKA, Wis. - The Onalaska Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a man accused of severely injuring a man in an incident at the Blue Moon Restaurant earlier this year.

Police say the incident happened during the early morning hours of February 16, 2013. Lamont A. Goins, 33, is also accused of punching a woman in the face as she tried to call 911 to help the victim. The Onalaska Police Department posted this information Thursday night on its official Facebook page.

The woman who was punched was not involved in the original incident, police said. She stopped to help after she saw the victim lying on the ground, being beat by Goins. As a result of this incident, Goins has an active warrant for battery.

Law enforcement has not been able to locate Goins since the incident. His last known address was in Holmen. Onalaska police say Goins is about 5'10" tall and weighs about 210 pounds. "Goins should be considered dangerous and you should not attempt contacting him yourself," Onalaska police wrote on their Facebook page.

If you have any information on this case, or know where Goins is located, contact the Onalaska Police Department at (608) 785-5940.
