One La Crosse school is getting a big honor for keeping kids moving during the day.

Lincoln Middle School is being named a national "Let's Move!" Active School. The award is part of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" initiative to get kids across the country more active.

Lincoln Middle was chosen for their commitment to making sure kids get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. That includes making sure students get enough recess time and taking "brain breaks" to do short activities in the classroom.

"Sometimes the concepts are really tough, and so it allows for the kids to just take a step back, make sure their brain is engaged and then it really gets them to focus again after the break," said Lincoln Middle School physical education and health teacher Melissa Norman.

Lincoln Middle is one of 544 schools across the country to be recognized as a "Let's Move!" active school.
