LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

The La Crosse Police Department will partner with the G.R.E.A.T. Midwest-Atlantic Training Center for Officer Training from Monday, June 23-July 2.

The training will be held in La Crosse and will be one of the largest trainings La Crosse has seen with 26 officers from 13 states. Trainers will be working to certify the 26 candidates to enter classrooms and deliver the G.R.E.A.T. program effectively.

The Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program is an evidence-based and effective gang and violence prevention for youth before they are introduced into gangs and delinquent behavior.

The La Crosse Police Department said it is proud to host the national training and has long been considered a leader in prevention programming.
