The La Crosse Symphony Orchestra is giving two area men a chance to perform in front of thousands.
It's all part of the symphony's 21st annual Conductor Wannabe fundraising contest.
Five nominees collect votes in the form of dollars, and the top two get to conduct a piece with the orchestra.
This year's winners Bill Lanzel ($22,418) and Father Robert Cook ($11,091) and the other three contestants helped raise a record $49,150!
And while obviously both men have musical interests, Lanzel says he joined the contest with no musical background. "Zero, zip, nada, none. 5th grade, they made me stand in front of a mirror to pucker up my lips to practice. I quit, nothing after that," said Lanzel.
The two will be performing at the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra's concert Saturday, April 5th at the Viterbo. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
