LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Setup for the La Crosse Riverfest got underway Friday, with some of the big tents going up.

The four-day annual event kicks off Wednesday night with the Rick Springfield Concert. Organizers say most events will go on rain or shine.

Some of the water events may threatened by the rising Mississippi River levels, but a contingency plan is already in place to keep a Fourth of July favorite.

"When we look at the Skyrockers and everything, we've been talking to them about alternate shooting locations for them, they're still going to go from across the river, we're just going to move them a little bit higher ground a little bit closer to the beach and they'll be all set to go,” said Riverfest President Nick Bjerke.

On Friday morning, Big Blue Dragon Boat Race organizers decided to move the event from the Mississippi to the Black River by Copeland Park. That event will take place on July 5.
