LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A program intended to provide student scholarships and revitalize La Crosse neighborhoods will continue despite a tragic loss.

The executive director of the La Crosse Promise Program, Jerilyn Dinsmoor, passed away earlier this week. In a statement released Tuesday, program organizers say they will continue Dinsmoor's work by helping high school graduates make it to college and revitalizing La Crosse neighborhoods.

La Crosse's Mayor says the program will continue moving forward thanks to Dinsmoor's efforts.

"We'll move forward. It's a program that really has that linkage between neighborhood revitalization and education and that's going to continue,” said Mayor Kabat.

Mayor Kabat also says it may take some time to find someone to fill Dinsmoor's shoes.

The program is continuing with their mission and accepting applications for La Crosse Promise sites.
