La Crosse police receives grant for bicycle, pedestrian safety

LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The La Crosse Police Department has been awarded grants from the Department of Transportation to place additional patrols in the community. 

The grants focus on bicycle and pedestrian laws in hopes to reduce traffic-related injuries and make roadways safer for all modes of transportation. Some of that enforcement will include bicycle patrol, foot patrol, pedestrian and traffic enforcement with both uniformed officers and plain clothes officers. 

Officers will be placed in areas of La Crosse that have high traffic with bicyclists and pedestrian.

La Crosse police say these are some locations of concern in the city for pedestrian and bicycle safety:

 The goal of the project is to educate the community on the existing laws and ordinances to pedestrian, bicycle and traffic laws.
