La Crosse police will celebrate the grand reopening of its lobby in City Hall on Monday, September 15.

The Department decided to renovate its lobby to upgrade its security and provide better access into the lobby for the public.

The $89,000 remodel includes an more inviting look and feel, along with wheelchair accessibiltity and some security features like ballistic glass.

"[It] allows citizens to have access without coming into secure areas of the police department. So it just helps us all around to have a better, more secure facility," said La Crosse Police Captain Bob Lawrence.

The reopening also means access to the drug drop box... and a new sharps collection container.The lobby’s hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It reopened to the public again on Monday, September 8 at 8:30 a.m. At that time, La Crosse police said there are a few finishing touches that needs to be installed. The renovation took about five weeks.
