LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A task force looking to protect our area libraries held a meeting Tuesday night.

Members discussed not only how to improve the existing libraries, but also how to keep them open.

Their discussion covered a variety of topics, including next year's budget.

One issue in particular deals with how the library can cut back on costs, without having to close any branches.

"Instead of hiring master librarians, I have said it for sometime now, lets just hire librarians without the master's degree title, because you know we're paying more for that title," said the Chairperson of the Library Task Force Andrea Richmond.

The task force will meet again in May to go over its ideas.
