La Crosse family surprised with Christmas delivered in a race car
A French Island family has some extra holiday cheer this Christmas after a caravan of gifts was delivered to their house.
The family of racing enthusiasts was surprised Friday with gifts from their wish list. It was all because of a partnership between Henderson Motorsports and the La Crosse Speedway, looking to help out a family in need.
The gifts didn't arrive by sleigh, but by race car.
Organizers of the project say it was the look on the family's faces that made this project a success. "As soon as I turned the corner, there were 3 kids on the fence and their eyes were like this big, especially the bigger boy who is a big race fan. And he couldn't believe there was a race car and Santa Claus in front of his house and then all of a sudden I am giving them presents left and right and just the look on their faces when I turned this corner made this whole 3 weeks come together. It makes my heart drop into my shoes," said La Crosse Speedway announcer Dan Deicher.
In addition, the children will each receive a new winter coat as part of Operation Stay Warm sponsored by the La Crosse Firefighters IAFF Local 127.
