LA CROSSE CO., Wis. (WKBT) -

La Crosse County is receiving a new loan for an old project.

The Wisconsin Commission of Public Lands has pledged 14 million dollars to a number of projects across the state.  One of the projects it is funding is the La Crosse County landfill.

La Crosse County constructed the landfill in 2006, but will use the 7.8 million dollars it is receiving to refinance.

La Crosse County administrator Steve O'Malley says that this state loan will be used to pay off the original loan taken out for the landfill.  Paying off this new loan at a better interest rate will save the county several hundred thousand dollars.

The state loan has a ten year term.
